The Bow Garden & Aquatic Centre Story

Growing in Devon Since 1411

Thank you for your interest in the Bow Garden Centre story, and how our family-run garden centre has grown through our love for plants, gardening, and aquatics that has spanned generations.

To Care For Plants & Wildlife is in our DNA

Our Family Legacy

Thank you for taking a moment to find out a little more about us. Bow Garden & Aquatic Centre is a family-run, independent garden centre on the A3072 between Crediton and Okehampton, in the heart of the Devon countryside. We're open seven days a week, and there's always something to discover when you visit.

Rooted in six centuries of Devon farming

The Tucker family has been farming in Devon since the 1400s — more than 600 years of working this land, caring for it, and learning from it. That connection to the Devon countryside is in our DNA, and it shapes everything we do at Bow today.

The current generation brought that heritage into horticulture and fishkeeping, building Bow Garden & Aquatic Centre, over the years, into one of Devon's best-loved independent garden centres. We grow many of our own plants, source food for our café and growing farm shop from local Devon producers, and power much of our site with solar energy. We care deeply about this land and about helping you love your own little corner of it too.

Today, Bow is home to a full garden centre, one of the South West's largest aquatic centres with over 160 aquariums, an award-winning Waterside Café, a Post Office, and a growing farm shop stocking the very best of Devon produce. We have free parking, free Wi Fi, full wheelchair access, and we welcome dogs (on leads), cyclists, and motorbikes too.

We're big enough to have everything you need — and small enough to know you by name. Our team is passionate, knowledgeable, and always happy to spend time with you to get things right.

Post Office

We believe a great garden centre should be at the heart of its community. That's why we added a Post Office to Bow — making it easier for our local community to access banking and postal services without having to travel further afield.

Powered By Our Love of Nature

Our Sustainability Commitment

Here at Bow, we love all things outdoors & Devon, so it is in our DNA to care about nature and the impact we have upon it. Therefore we have signed up to support the Horticultural Trades Association sustainability pledge.

As a team, we have committed to being more eco-driven whilst creating your dream gardens.

We love Devon, and we take our responsibility to look after it seriously. We've installed solar panels, switched to air-source heating, grow our own vegetables for the café, recycle 100% of our food waste locally, and have moved to almost entirely peat-free plants. We're not perfect, but we're always improving.
