Looking after Devon, for Devon.
The Tucker family has been farming and caring for this corner of Devon for over 600 years. That's a long time to build a relationship with the land — and a long time to understand how important it is to look after it. Sustainability isn't a marketing exercise for us. It's something we genuinely care about, and something we're always working to improve.
We've signed up to the Horticultural Trades Association sustainability pledge, and we're making real, practical changes every year. Here's where we are today —
and what we're working towards.
100% of our food waste is locally recycled, reducing landfill waste.
We have installed solar panels to increase our solar usage to up to 100%.
We support local growers & local food produce by purchasing from local suppliers wherever possible.
Our lighting will all become 100% LED.
We are growing our own vegetables for use in our Waterside Cafe reducing food miles.
We have moved away from oil heating, our heaters our now air sourced heaters that are mainly solar run.
We are reducing single-use plastics by using suppliers with recyclable materials including plant pots & Cafe packaging.
We recycle 100% of our metal & plastic waste, cooking oil & pallets are 100% recycled.
We recycle 100% of our plant pots & trays.
We are encouraging customers to use water-retaining products.
100% of our water is supplied via a borehole & some harvesting.
We extended our peat-free offering and will phase peat out completely by 2024.
We use mainly peat-free grown plants and are increasingly sourcing more.
We are promoting more Eco-friendly & natural products.
We look forward to sharing more of our sustainability improvements with you, please get in touch if you have any suggestions.
